An O-ring is a circular sealing element made of rubber or elastomer, used to block the passage of liquids or gases between two parts. It fits into a groove and is compressed during assembly to form a tight seal.
To measure an O-ring, use a caliper to determine the inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), and cross-section (CS). The formula is:
OD = ID + 2 × CS.
